Then & now
Twyford has not changed greatly over the years and has largely escaped from large scale housing development.
It has retained its character of friendliness and warmth as a very strong and busy community.
The opening of the new community shop which is run by volunteers has become a major asset to the community and the coffee shop is the place to share all the village news.
The decision to route HS2 through Twyford, build the maintenance depot in Steeple Claydon, route the rebuilt Oxford to Cambridge railway and possibly the 6-lane expressway though Calvert, has had a negative effect on property values.
