Twyford is adjacent to the three hamlets of Poundon, Calvert and Charndon. Each settlement has its own history and some very notable historic buildings still exist, the oldest being the Norman Church in Twyford. Many important industrial sites have disappeared like the Calvert Brickworks and the Great Central Railway.
